Cake Cutting Music

Did you know that wedding cakes symbolize prosperity and happiness in the newlyweds lives? Having a wedding cake is one of the most anticipated  (and tastiest) wedding traditions. For that reason, many couples opt to have a cake cutting ceremony during their reception. We’ve put together a list of things to think about when planning your cake cutting ceremony and a Spotify playlist of some of our favorite cake cutting music with sweet lyrics to help you have the cake cutting ceremony of your dreams.

Planning Your Cake Cutting Ceremony

  1. Where? Wedding cakes are often a central piece of decor at receptions! Choose a place where all of your guests can enjoy your ceremony like on the dance floor, near the head table, or in a designated cake cutting area (with good lighting for photos)!
  2. When? Coordinate with your planner when you’d like your cake cutting ceremony to take place. Typically, it’s done after dinner and before dancing.
  3. Who? Establish who will announce your cake cutting ceremony and what they’ll say. DJ’s are often a great choice for this! Make sure you also discuss with your DJ what your cake cutting music will be.
  4. How? Discuss with your partner how you want the cake cutting ceremony to go. Do you want to hold the knife together? How do you feel about feeding each other the first bite? And most importantly, do you want to playfully smash cake into each others faces? Make sure to iron out these details before your big day so you’re able to fully enjoy the moment.
  5. What? Decide what will happen after you cut the cake. Some couples take this opportunity to share a toast with their guests as the caterers slice and serve the cake. If you decide to preserve the top tier of your wedding cake for your first anniversary, make sure you communicate that with your catering team!
