We suggest putting your FêteFone in a prominent place where your guests might otherwise congregate that’s away from bands, loud music or other significant background noise.
Consider putting your FêteFone on your escort card table or on your gift table in an entry hall adjoining your event space, or on a small table near the line for the restrooms (where guests might be looking for something to do while they wait). All of these locations tend to be great spots that are very noticeable to your guests but far enough away from the loudest parts of your event.
While we run each message through filters to help reduce background noise and to even out the volume of each recording, our audio engineers are ultimately limited by the source quality of the recordings and the nature of analog telephone technology. The quality of your recordings is dependent on a variety of conditions outside our control, including background noise levels, the speaking voice and volume of the guest leaving the message, and the proximity of the handset to the guest’s mouth.
Although guests have had an amazing time with FêteFone in a variety of recording conditions, to ensure the highest quality recordings, we recommend placing your FêteFone away from bands or loud music, since background noise can only be reduced in recordings (not eliminated), and to ensure that guests don’t feel like they have to shout to share their messages with you.
You might also want to include a sign next to your FêteFone in a frame that coordinates with your event décor to explain how to use the FêteFone to your guests. We have sample signage available that you can customize.
To get the most possible messages, you might also want to ask your DJ or band—or an attendant—to let guests know that the phone is there to help capture memories, just like you would with a traditional guestbook.
